How to use the calculator
- Enter your monthly wage. Most employers use basic salary plus allowances for leave pay.
- Enter your years of continuous service with your current employer. This sets your entitlement at 21 or 30 days.
- Enter the months you’ve worked in the current leave year, any days carried over from earlier years, and the days you’ve already taken this year.
You’ll see your yearly entitlement, the leave earned so far this year, your balance, and what the balance is worth.
The formulas
- Yearly entitlement = 21 days (under 5 years) or 30 days (5 years or more)
- Leave earned this year = entitlement × months worked ÷ 12
- Balance = leave earned + days carried over − days taken
- Daily wage = monthly wage ÷ 30
- Leave pay = daily wage × balance
Examples
| Monthly wage | Service | Months this year | Carried over | Taken | Balance | Leave pay |

| 9,000 | 3 years | 12 | 0 | 9 | 12 days | 3,600 |
| 9,000 | 6 years | 6 | 5 | 0 | 20 days | 6,000 |
| 12,000 | 2 years | 9 | 3 | 5 | 13.8 days | 5,520 |
When unused leave is paid
While you’re employed, you can’t give up your leave or swap it for money. When your job ends for any reason, you’re entitled to pay for every unused day (Article 111), on top of your end-of-service award.
