How to use it

Enter the car price, the down payment and final payment as percentages, the term in months and the flat profit rate. You’ll see the installment, the total you pay and the APR.

Example

A 100,000 SAR car, 10% down, a 30% final payment, 60 months at 4% flat:

With final payment Without
Monthly installment 1,300 1,800
Final payment 30,000 0
Total profit 18,000 18,000
APR 5.81% 7.42%

The final payment makes each month cheaper, but the total profit is the same, and you need 30,000 SAR at the end, or to refinance or return the car if your contract allows.

Before you sign

  • Compare offers by APR, not the flat rate.
  • Ask what happens at the end: can you pay the final amount in installments, or return the car?
  • Check insurance, which is usually required and paid separately.

For personal loans, try the loan calculator.

Guides about this tool

Car finance calculator: common questions

What is the final (balloon) payment?

A large amount, often 20–40% of the price, paid at the end of the contract. It lowers the monthly installment, but you still owe it, and you pay profit on it throughout.

What is the difference between the flat rate and the APR?

The flat rate is charged on the full financed amount for the whole term, even as you repay it. The APR shows the true yearly cost, and is usually much higher than the flat rate.

Is VAT included?

Enter the car’s price including 15% VAT, as quoted by the dealer.
