How to use the word counter
Type or paste your text into the box. The counts update as you type. Use Remove tashkeel to strip Arabic diacritics, Copy text to copy the result, and Clear to start again.
How things are counted
- Words are separated by spaces. A hyphenated word like “well-known” counts once, and numbers count as words.
- Characters include letters, spaces, punctuation and Arabic diacritics.
- Sentences end with a full stop, question mark (including ؟) or exclamation mark.
- Paragraphs are lines that contain text.

Removing tashkeel
Arabic text copied from the Quran, poetry or formal documents often includes diacritics (tashkeel). Removing them makes text easier to search and edit, and gives a character count closer to what most platforms expect. The tool also removes tatweel, the stretching character (ـ).
