How it works

  1. Choose your city. There are 28 Saudi cities, from Riyadh and Jeddah to AlUla.
  2. The big number is when the last third of tonight begins, with Fajr as its end.
  3. Below it are Maghrib, the middle of the night, tomorrow’s Fajr and the length of the night, plus tomorrow’s Duha time and the next 7 nights.

Worked example: Riyadh, night of 18 October 2026

Time
Maghrib 5:24 pm
Fajr (next morning) 4:35 am
Length of the night 11h 11m
Middle of the night 10:59 pm
Last third begins 12:51 am
Duha (next day) 6:08 am to 11:28 am

One third of 11 hours 11 minutes is about 3 hours 44 minutes, and 4:35 am minus 3 hours 44 minutes is 12:51 am.

Other cities on the same night

City Last third begins
Jeddah 1:21 am
Makkah 1:18 am
Madinah 1:19 am
Dammam 12:37 am

In winter the nights are longer, so the last third starts later: in Riyadh it begins at about 1:16 am in early March 2027, during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

All five daily prayers for your city are on the prayer times page, and the Ramadan timetable 1448 has Suhoor and Iftar for every day of Ramadan.

Last third of the night and Duha time: common questions

How is the last third of the night worked out?

Take the time from Maghrib to the next Fajr, divide it by three, and subtract one third from Fajr. If the night is 11 hours 15 minutes, the last third starts 3 hours 45 minutes before Fajr.

When is the middle of the night?

Halfway between Maghrib and Fajr. Many scholars say the preferred time for Isha ends at the middle of the night.

When is the Duha prayer?

From about 15 minutes after sunrise, when the sun has risen a little, until about 10 minutes before Dhuhr. The best time is when the sun is high and the day is getting hot.

Do the times change every night?

Yes, a little, because Maghrib and Fajr move with the seasons. The table shows the last third for the next 7 nights.
