How to use the calculator
- Choose Jewelry or Investment bars or coins.
- Enter today’s price of 24-karat gold per gram. Check it with the shop or a gold price website.
- For jewelry, choose the karat, then enter the weight and the making charge per gram.
You’ll see the total, the price per gram for your karat, the gold value, the making charge and the VAT.
The formula
- Price per gram of your karat = 24k price × karat ÷ 24
- Gold value = price per gram × weight
- Making charge = making charge per gram × weight
- VAT = 15% × (gold value + making charge), for jewelry
- Total = gold value + making charge + VAT
