How weeks are counted

The Saudi school week runs from Sunday to Thursday. This tool counts every week with at least one school day, starting from week 1 of each semester, and skips weeks that are fully off for a holiday.

  • First semester: Sunday 23 August 2026 to Thursday 7 January 2027, 19 study weeks. The week of 22 November is the fall break.
  • Second semester: Sunday 17 January 2027 to Thursday 24 June 2027, 19 study weeks. The weeks of 28 February and 7 March (Eid al-Fitr) and of 9 and 16 May (Eid al-Adha) are holidays.

How many study weeks are in the 1448 school year?

By our count, 19 in the first semester and 19 in the second, not counting weeks that are fully off for the fall break, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

When does the first semester end?

The mid-year break starts after school on Thursday 7 January 2027, and the second semester starts on Sunday 17 January 2027.

Does a short holiday reset the week count?

No. A week with at least one school day, like National Day week or Founding Day week, still counts. Only weeks that are fully off are skipped.

Why might my school number weeks differently?

Schools in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah and Taif have some different dates, and some letters count holiday weeks. If your school’s number differs by one, follow your school.
