Tools for this guide

Step by step

  1. Take clear photos of each page in good light, flat, from straight above.
  2. Open the images to PDF tool and tap Choose images.
  3. Put the pages in order. The first photo becomes page 1.
  4. Choose A4 for official documents, and a small margin.
  5. Tap Create PDF. It downloads to your phone, ready to upload or email.

Photos taken sideways are turned the right way automatically.

Keep the file small

Government portals and job sites often limit uploads to 2–5 MB. If your PDF is too big:

  • Shrink the photos first with the image compressor, then make the PDF again.
  • Use one photo per page, and avoid very high-resolution photos of simple documents.

iPhone photos

iPhone photos saved as HEIC work too. If a website rejects the photos themselves, convert them to JPG with the image format converter.

Joining PDFs

Already have some PDFs? Combine them into one with merge PDF.
