The quickest way
- Open the age calculator.
- Enter your Gregorian date of birth.
- You’ll see your Hijri date of birth, your next Hijri birthday with its Gregorian date, and your age in Hijri years.
To convert a single date, use the Hijri and Gregorian converter.
Example: born on 1 January 2000
Someone born on Saturday 1 January 2000 was born on 24 Ramadan 1420 AH. Because the Hijri year is shorter, their Hijri birthday moves earlier every year:
| Hijri birthday | Falls on |
|---|---|
| 24 Ramadan 1447 AH | Friday 13 March 2026 |
| 24 Ramadan 1448 AH | Wednesday 3 March 2027 |
| 24 Ramadan 1449 AH | Sunday 20 February 2028 |
| 24 Ramadan 1450 AH | Thursday 8 February 2029 |
| 24 Ramadan 1451 AH | Monday 28 January 2030 |
The date moves 10 to 12 days earlier each year.
Why the Hijri birthday moves
The Hijri year follows the moon and has 354 or 355 days, while the Gregorian year has 365 or 366. The difference of about 11 days makes your Hijri birthday arrive earlier each year, moving through every season over about 33 years.
For the same reason, your age in Hijri years is slightly higher than in Gregorian years, by about one year for every 33.
Which Hijri calendar?
Our tools use the Umm al-Qura calendar, Saudi Arabia’s official Hijri calendar, which is the basis for Hijri dates on Saudi official documents. Other Hijri calendars can occasionally differ by a day.
